Make a Break with Your Man
Make a Break with Your Man
Mini-moons are making a statement in wedding planning these days. And what better way to say “I love you” than a romantic getaway with just you and your beau?
by Colette Petersen
The last months leading up to your big day can be some of the most exhausting. No matter how much fun you’re having planning your wedding, you’ll be tired and missing time with the man in your life. Get in touch with your romance by taking a short mini-moon.
Mini-moons are three- or four-day vacations you can take together before or after the wedding if you can’t get away for a long honeymoon. The options for mini-moons are endless, but take a look at the following four trips; you’re bound to find one to suit you and your future husband.
Las Vegas
Las Vegas may be America’s playground, but most think of it as a bachelor’s paradise. Gambling, showgirls and wild partying symbolize Sin City. On the other hand, couples can party together. Do you want to get wild taking risks with your guy? If so, Vegas is the place for your mini-moon.
Las Vegas can be inexpensive or lavish with flights, hotel, meals and entertainment available in abundance. Spend some time in the casino, take in a show or dance the night away at one of the clubs on the strip. No matter what you enjoy, you can find it in Vegas. From PURE nightclub to Stratosphere’s Top of the World lounge or Nine Fine Irishmen, there is nightlife to suit your tastes. Then, indulge and be pampered as you fall together in your luxury hotel room.
Cape Cod, Mass.
The Cape may seem like a classic summertime vacation spot, but winter is the perfect time for romance. Head to Cape Cod for passionate and cozy togetherness and avoid the crowds and noise of the city. Relax as you wander the villages or take a short drive into Boston to see the historic sights.
Try antiquing together through quaint towns and seaside areas. Dine out on superb seafood or have a picnic in your room. The Cape is a great place to reconnect in a romantic bed and breakfast or charming hotel. Spend time talking, cuddling and just daydreaming together in front of a fire with hot chocolate.
Caribbean Cruise
Planning your wedding may be stretching your budget, but these days cruises are a fun, exciting mini-moon option for the budget conscious couple. Consider setting sail for a three- or four-night, all-inclusive cruise to the Caribbean. Fall and winter prices are reasonable so you can get a great deal.
Imagine, just a short plane ride away and then you are stepping aboard an ocean liner ready to take you to sun, sand and sea. Explore the islands of the Bahamas or other Caribbean destinations sure to be warmer than home. Pack a bikini, bask in the sun and romance your man, all at the same time. Cruises offer an atmosphere to suit almost any taste, whether you prefer lazing around the pool, rocking the clubs until morning or dressing up for a romantic meal. A quick cruise getaway will leave you and your man feeling relaxed and refreshed.
Close to Home
If getting out of town just isn’t possible, consider a weekend closer to home. Look for a bed and breakfast or small boutique hotel within a short drive. Be pampered by room service and couples massages or get out and explore the nightlife. Moving your couple time to a hotel can remove the stress of planning the perfect wedding and provide concentrated romance.
Having a mini-moon in your hometown can be just as fun as going away. Treat yourself to the best resort hotel and reconnect with the locale. Try new restaurants you’ve been too busy to explore or remember your relationship’s past by revisiting your first date. The mini-moon is time for you to be alone together and celebrate romance.
Before wedding planning or jitters have a chance to attack, put your relationship back into perspective. The best thing about a mini-moon is that it can be all your idea. Unlike the traditional honeymoon that is often planned by the groom, you can make this pre-wedding weekend your gift to him.
